Tollgrade Communications Named as a Finalist in the 2014 American Business Awards?

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Reston, VA (PRWEB) May 08, 2014 Tollgrade Communications, Inc., the industry leader in redefining the global standard for reliability at the world's largest electric utilities and telecommunications providers, announced today that they were named a "New Product Awards" finalist in the Software Asset Management Solution and Telecommunications categories for the 2014 American Business Awards. More than 3,300 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.

Tollgrade's LightHouse® Distribution Monitoring platform consisting of their inductively powered Medium Voltage (MV) Smart Grid Sensors with Predictive Grid® Analytics software was recognized as a finalist in the "Software Asset Management" category and their VBT, a groundbreaking handheld broadband service testing tool that reduces repeat dispatch service calls by 50%, was recognized in the Telecommunications category.

The American Business Awards (ABA) are the nation's premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. The American Business Awards will be presented at two awards events: the ABA's traditional banquet on Friday, June 13 in Chicago and the new product & technology awards event on Friday, September 12 in San Francisco.

"We are honored to be named a finalist by the American Business Awards," said Edward H. Kennedy, CEO and President, Tollgrade Communications. "These nominations are a testament to the innovations Tollgrade continues to bring to market. These disruptive technologies have made our company the number one solution provider of Smart Grid Sensors in less than five years and number one in Broadband Testing products over the last 25 years." "The final judges have a difficult task ahead of them, to rank the Finalists, because there are so many great nominations this year," said Stevie Awards president and founder Michael Gallagher.

Finalists were chosen by more than 150 business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April and May. More than 150 members of several specialized judging committees will determine Stevie Award placements from among the Finalists during final judging, to take place May 13-22.

Tollgrade's industry-leading LightHouse distribution monitoring platform consisting of MV Smart Grid Sensors is the first asset management platform for utilities to provide real-time grid intelligence from their blind spot - the 6.6 million miles of the distribution grid responsible for the delivery of electricity. Some of the world's leading utilities including Western Power Distribution, Toronto Hydro, Manitoba Hydro, and Veridian Connections use Tollgrade's LightHouse platform to increase reliability, reduce outages and restore services faster.

Tollgrade's VBT handheld diagnostics tool allows broadband service technicians to identify and resolve problems in the home that are very difficult to diagnose and slow down or disrupt broadband services, leading to expensive repeat field repair visits. The VBT allows broadband service providers to realize significant savings, more quickly troubleshoot service calls and standardize test procedures to eliminate repeat dispatches and chronic problems. Currently, the VBT is being deployed in North America to reduce repeat dispatches by over 50 percent.
