Your questions on slow web speeds... [Daily Post (Liverpool, England)]

(Daily Post (Liverpool, England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SINCE the Daily Post launched its Up to Speed campaign, we've been inundated with responses from frustrated internet users in North Wales. One of the complaints made by many people was that those plagued by slow internet speeds in the region have to pay the same rate as others who receive a much better service.

We've printed some of your complaints here and put the question to the UK's biggest internet providers.

Here are a collection of thoughts and questions from the survey: YOUR COMPLAINTS ? WHEN it works, I get a speed of 0.1 to 0.3 megabytes per second. I had to download a new antiviral as I could not get it on disk and it took 17 hours. Fibre is not planned here until after 2017, yet here in Wales it costs the same as London.

? Get your fingers out of your ears and give us what we pay for. At the moment we are being robbed.

? Just because we are in a rural area, doesn't mean we should receive poor service for the same price as people in urban areas.

?We pay a premium for fast download speeds which we do not receive. The cost of broadband should be offset against the download speed you actually receive.

?Get your act together, and provide consistency of service. Stop treating rural areas as backwaters. If we cannot have internet provision on our phone lines, why do we have to pay the same line rental as people who get a four-star service? ? Hurry up and provide the villages in North Wales with decent internet connection, or at least bring the price down while you decide which place is next on the list to be fitted.

? My son pays for Xbox Live and over the last week he has not been able to get online to play his game that he pays for.

? Just angers us that we are paying for a service we believe we are not in full receipt of.

? Charge less for slow speeds - maybe that will spur you on to improve the service.

UUPP SSPPEEEEDD ? If I'm paying for fast broadband of 30mb+ then that is what should be going through my telephone line, not 1mb if lucky.

? If we are paying for a service, it is unethical to DAILY POST for better keep taking money for a service they have no intention of providing. ? Why do we have to pay the same rates for appalling service? The speed is pathetic. The connection is unreliable at best. It's the 21st century, get it sorted! ? Stop lying about broadband speeds and let us pay for what the broadband suppliers actually give us! ? Rural areas pay the same as urban areas for their broadband provision.

There should be a parity of speed.

TTOO . ? They need to provide the service we pay for. It is unacceptable for people in North Wales to be treated like this.

They talk about super fast broadband but a simple basic system that works would be a good start.

campaign coverage THE ANSWERS A SPOKESPERSON for Sky Broadband said: "Speed can vary based on a number of individual factors, including the distance between a customer's home and the local telephone exchange.

"In light of this, we provide customers with an individual speed estimate before they sign up, so they can make an informed decision about what product to take.

"If a customer has concerns about their speed, we'd encourage them to call us so we can try and identify any measures which may improve the situation." A spokesperson for BT said: "Broadband speeds can vary considerably due to a number of factors including line length, the local network topography and home wiring.

"BT advises customers of their likely speed prior to the broadband contract being signed. UK consumers are already benefiting from some of the lowest prices for broadband anywhere in Europe, with the average price of broadband packages falling by 48% between 2004 and 2012 according to Ofcom.

"We are working in partnership with the Welsh Government to deliver the Superfast Cymru programme.
