New vintage market will now expand [Derby Evening Telegraph (England)]

(Derby Evening Telegraph (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A PILOT vintage, arts and food market in Derby's Cathedral Quarter has proved so successful that the initiative is already planning to expand.

The vintage market is organised by local designer and retailer Sheena Holland and held on the first Saturday of every month in Old Blacksmith's Yard off Sadler Gate. The event is now backed by Blueprint, which own the land and properties in the historic courtyard and the Cathedral Quarter's Business Improvement District. More than 30 stalls are already committed to attend the next market on Saturday, May 3, with further space available. Paul Hurst, vice- chairman of the Cathedral Quarter management group and owner of the Old Bell Hotel in Sadler Gate, has offered space in the ballroom at the historic coach house to give additional room and a wet weather option.

Sheena Holland, who relocated her shop selling vintage wedding headbands and fashion into Old Blacksmith's Yard set up the market to give fledgling designers an opportunity to showcase their talents.

She said: "We had more than 6,000 visitors at the first two markets." To run a stall, e-mail [email protected] for details.
