Northwest students compete in networking [St. Joseph News-Press (MO)]


(St. Joseph News-Press (MO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MARYVILLE, Mo. - Seven Northwest Missouri State University students participated in the Midwestern USA Post-Secondary NetRiders Competition, with five advancing to the second round and one qualifying for the final round.



Will Trout, a senior management information systems major from Elkhorn, Neb., will compete in the final round Dec. 6. He is one of three competitors representing Missouri in the finals.

More than 1,000 students from 41 states and eight Canadian provinces competed in round one. Only 87 students qualified for the final round.


NetRiders is an interactive student skills competition that tests students' networking and information technology skills through a series of online exams and simulation activities. Sponsored by Cisco Systems, the competition draws students from throughout the world.

Habitat plans house blessing St. Joseph Habitat for Humanity will be celebrating the completion of its 55th house with a blessing ceremony on Wednesday.

The organization will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting and house blessing ceremony to follow. It will take place at 318 S. 20th St., where Natashia Berry and her two children are moving into the new home.

Habitat requires 400 hours of homeowner labor to purchase the home.
