TM to woo more SMEs via ICT solutions business [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) expects the number of its small and medium enterprise (SME) customers to reach 520,000 by the end of the year as it broadens its information communications technology (ICT) solutions business.

TM's SME executive vice-president, Azizi A. Hadi, said TM had 515,000 SME customers subscribing to a wide range of TM solutions and products as of last year.

Azizi said this accounts for about 80 per cent of the more than 600,000 active SMEs in the country.

"Our SME-based customers have grown steadily over the last few years and this reflects the growing awareness among SMEs on the importance of ICT as a key component in their enterprises," he said during an interview in conjunction with the TM SME BizFest 2014, here, last week.

Azizi said TM is committed to empowering local SMEs and aspires to become their preferred communications and solutions partner in Malaysia.

"Our aim is to become a one-stop business solutions provider with a comprehensive range of tools to help businesses grow," he said, noting that TM is committed to support SME development and growth and enable them to gain a competitive edge.

TM SME BizFest 2014, which is in its third edition, is expected to attract 5,000 participants nationwide, including Malaysian entrepreneurs, SMEs, home business enterprises, young entrepreneurs and graduates as well as info seekers.

The series of one-day events will be held in four locations - Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Petaling Jaya (April 24); Persada Johor International Convention Centre, Johor Baru (May 7); Equatorial Hotel, Penang (May 22); and Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching (June 19).

Themed "Innovate To Dominate", the TM SME BizFest 2014 was targeted at the mass SME market comprising micro and small markets, including those operating businesses from home.

Among the highlights of the event are conferences and exhibitions that offer business education and tips, business networking opportunities and offerings of affordable ICT solutions, which aim to help nurture business interests among potential SMEs.

Azizi said the event will provide the right platform for SMEs to acquire business tips, adding that they also have the opportunity to see the latest ICT solutions from the participating partners.

There will be four key topics covered in the business conference - Motivational, ICT & Your Business, Financial Aids and E-commerce Success Stories.

Azizi hoped that SMEs can seize on this opportunity to reap as much benefits as they can through the technology made available by TM.

He said interested participants can register online at www.tm.com.my/smebizfest2014 and also stand a chance to win exciting prizes.

"TM is also offering SME BizFest Savings Bonanza promotion, which enables SMEs to enjoy savings of up to RM1,680 when they subscribe to our broadband packages, coupled with value-added services," Azizi said.
