Turkmenistan plans to launch communications satellite in November 2014 [AKIpress News Agency (Kyrgyz Republic)]


(AKIpress News Agency (Kyrgyz Republic) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Turkmenistan plans to launch its own communications satellite in November 2014. Chairman of the National Space Agency under the President of Turkmenistan reported on work of creating the country's satellite system during the cabinet meeting, reported Turkmenistan.ru.



He said that the first Turkmen satellite is planned to be commissioned using the American rocket Falkon 9. Currently, training of staff in special courses organized by the French company Thales Alenia Space is continuing, as well as construction of ground control centers in the Akhal and Dashoguz provinces is completing.

Summing up the discussion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the strategic importance of the creation of the first national communications satellite. He noted that the satellite will help to diversify the economy, increase intellectual capacity in the new economic areas, contribute to implementation of high technology projects that, in particular, will help to build an innovative economy.
