The Biotechnology Industry Organization and Biominas Brasil to Co-Host First Ever BIO Latin America Conference

WASHINGTON & BELO HORIZONTE, BRAZIL --(Business Wire)--

The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and Biominas Brasil today announced that they will co-host the inaugural BIO Latin America Conference to be held September 9 through September 11, 2014 at the Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"As the sixth largest economy in the world and the largest in Latin America, Brazil is a top destination for foreign investment and an increasingly important operator on the international stage. The development and expansion of biotechnology is a key priority for the country, reflected through new legislation and support programs by both the state and federal governments," said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood. "We are thrilled to bring BIO's extensive experience in facilitating cross-border connections to Rio de Janeiro with the newly created BIO Latin America Conference."

"It is our great privilege to co-host this first-time event with BIO. We are convinced that the conference will increase visibility for the local biotech industry and generate new opportunities for collaborations and businesses in the region," said Biominas President and CEO Eduardo Emrich Soares.

BIO Latin America will bring together executives, researchers, investors and government officials from Latin America and globally to discuss trends, navigate industry challenges, conduct partnering meetings, attend ompany presentations and learn about investment opportunities within this emerging market.

In addition to educational sessions and company presentations with industry thought leaders, the conference will afford attendees the opportunity to arrange meetings between investors, companies and industry executives via BIO's One-on-One Partnering™ System.
