Ministry acts against unauthorized bills [Saudi Gazette, The]

(Saudi Gazette, The Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JEDDAH - The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has said anyone found posting billboards on streets without obtaining a proper license will have their phone numbers disconnected as a penalty, a source told Al-Hayat daily. The ministry asked the Makkah province branch of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) to instruct all three telecommunication companies in the Kingdom - Saudi Telecom Company, Mobily and Zain - to disconnect the phone numbers that appear on such advertisements. The move seeks to put an end to the advertisement posters that can be found stuck to stoplights and light poles. Anyone whose phone number is disconnected will have to pay a fine and sign an undertaking not to repeat the violation in order to get the service restored.
