Aereo CEO Chet Kanojia to Speak April 2 At ACA's 21st Annual Washington Summit

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PITTSBURGH, March 18 -- The American Cable Association issued the following news release: The American Cable Association today announced that Chet Kanojia, founder and CEO of Aereo, the company that is shaking up television with innovative ways to serve consumers with local broadcast TV channels, will deliver remarks April 2 to ACA's 21st Annual Summit in Washington, D.C., as his company prepares for a major legal test with the TV broadcast industry in the U.S. Supreme Court.

"ACA is very pleased that Aereo's visionary leader has agreed to appear at the ACA Summit to speak with ACA Members who care just as deeply as he does about freedom to innovate and share his frustration with broadcast incumbents that refuse to embrace the digital revolution," ACA President and CEO Matthew M. Polka said.

Aereo is a groundbreaking online television technology company that enables consumers to access an individual, cloud-based over-the-air antenna and DVR to record and watch live broadcast television on Internet-connected devices, including smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and computers. Aereo prevailed against a challenge in the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, and the company will appear before the U.S. Supreme Court to argue its case on April 22.

This year's 21st annual ACA Summit will take place April 1-3 at the Grand Hyatt, 1000 H Street NW, Washington, D.C. The ACA Summit is a unique forum that highlights the special role that independent cable operators play in providing world class communications services to consumers in hometown markets throughout the United States.

This year's ACA Summit will coincide with independent cable's efforts to update retransmission consent, halt separately owned, same-market TV stations from colluding in the sale of retransmission consent, and ensure the ability of a buying group, like the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), to avail itself of the pro-competitive program access rules, as well as much, much more.

Previously, ACA announced that Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler is scheduled to speak April 2 at the ACA Summit on his ideas and outlook for U.S. communications policy in the coming years in a question-and-answer session with ACA's Polka.

ACA also announces that registration for the ACA Summit is now open for D.C. government relations professionals and partners and associates at law firms. The one-day registration pass for April 2 will permit attendees to observe all keynote sessions and panels, including the Q&A with Chairman Wheeler.

The theme of this year's summit - Our Time Is NOW! - underscores the important legislative and regulatory goals ACA and its Members are pursuing on Capitol Hill and at the FCC.

Registration for ACA Members and D.C. Professionals; Call for Exhibitors and Sponsors: The ACA Summit website includes event details and secure online registration for ACA members. Separate registration to attend the Summit on Wednesday, April 2, for D.C. government relations professionals and law firm partners and associates is also available on the ACA Summit website.
