BRIEF: New Haven company launches iSupr8 for Android phones [New Haven Register, Conn. :: ]

(New Haven Register (CT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 14--NEW HAVEN -- MEA Mobile, which makes applications for smartphones, is launching iSupr8 on Friday, which company officials describe as the first high definition video filter for the Android system.

Filter apps are used to change the look of videos and photos. iSupr8 is designed to make video from smartphones look like it was shot on 8 millimeter film.

Bruce Seymour, MEA Mobile's managing director, said iSupr8 took two years to develop.

"Even though we're making the video look old, it's at a high resolution," Seymour said. "iSupr8 was made by film enthusiasts for filmmakers seeking an authentic, vintage look. We've emulated the texture and warmness found in the original 8mm format, including authentic color grades." The app allows users to shoot a video with selectable video resolution from low-to-high definition, add special vintage effects, then share to a range of social networks. It differs from other apps like Vine and Instagram in that the videos being shared are not limited to specific, short lengths of time.
