GCT Semiconductor and D2 Technologies to Partner [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GCT Semiconductor, a designer and supplier of advanced 4G mobile semiconductor solutions, and D2 Technologies, a provider of embedded IP communications software platforms, announced integration of D2's vPort 4G+ IMS software with GCT's GDM7243S 4G LTE mobile chipset.

"GCT and D2 are committed to continued integration and testing to enable the commercialization of VoLTE in mobile smartphones and tablets, and in emerging applications such as M2M, automotive and fixed-wireless access routers," said Doug Makishima, chief operating officer for D2 Technologies, in a release. "As more device types adopt LTE-based technology, the successful integration of IMS IP communications capabilities such as VoLTE, IR.94 video and RCS 5.1 / joyn, represents an important enabler for OEMs and network operators seeking to deliver evolved services." "We are pleased to continue working closely with D2 and reaching this significant milestone for VoLTE, demonstrating bidirectional voice and video communication between a machine and smartphone user," said Alex Sum, vice president of sales and marketing at GCT Semiconductor, Inc. "This opens the door to carriers and mobile device makers, showing that this communication is possible on a commercial LTE network." D2 Technologies is a provider of VoIP and converged IP communications software.

GCT Semiconductor is a fabless designer and supplier of 4G LTE and WiMAX semiconductor solutions.
