BRIEF: Whole Foods picks West Duluth site for second store [Duluth News Tribune :: ]

(Duluth News-Tribune (MN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 25--Whole Foods Co-op in Duluth has picked West Duluth as the site for its much anticipated second location.

The co-op's board of directors voted unanimously to buy the property at the corner of Grand Avenue and 45th Avenue West, where the store will be built.

The cooperatively-owned grocery store, at 610 E. Fourth St., has been considering a second location since 2012 in response to customer demand and because it has reached capacity at its current location. The board considered sites around Duluth and in Superior, Two Harbors and Cloquet.

The grocery store, established in 1970, currently has more than 7,600 owners.
