CAS Supports Cyber Security Challenge Schools Programme

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LONDON, Feb. 14 -- BCS The Chartered Institute for IT issued the following news release: Computing At School (CAS) is supporting The Cyber Security Challenge Schools Programme - a scheme aimed at developing the next generation of cyber security experts.

The Cyber Security Challenge Schools Programme aims to bring the excitement of cyber security into the classroom and inspire a new generation to keep the UK safe online through a national, government backed schools code-breaking challenge.

Simon Humphreys, National Coordinator CAS explains: "Cyber security is vital for both the UK's economy and the safety and well-being of its citizens, yet there is a major shortage of skilled peoplein this field. We are very pleased to support the Cyber Security Challenge Schools Programme which has been developed to address this issue." The Challenge provides an exciting way for pupils to discover why cyber security matters and helps them develop their skills. Through interactive, ready-made teaching resources (aimed at key stage 4 students and available to all schools in England) students learn to break coded messages specially designed by industry experts before producing their own for other schools to crack as part of a national virtual tournament. The highest ranked schools will be invited to compete face-to-face at a grand finale to decide the Cyber Security Challenge Schools Champion.

CAS (Computing At School) is supported and endorsed by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
