(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HULL: A green business has used social media to raise Pounds 231 for a national allergy charity.

Hull company The Bio-D Company, which manufactures environmentally-friendly cleaning products, ran a Facebook promotion to encourage people to "like" its page in return for a Pounds 1 donation to Allergy UK's Nurse Appeal.

Sara Holtby, Bio-D's sales and marketing director, said: "In celebration of gaining the Allergy Friendly Product Award for our unfragranced laundry range and with a desire to contribute to the great work that Allergy UK does, we chose their Nurses Appeal as our charity of the year and we are proud to support the tireless work they do to help people with allergies." In addition, directors chose one of the new "likers" to win Pounds 50 worth of products. The prize was won by Rebecca Ducker, of York.
