University to partner Kofi Annan centre [Ghana News Agency]


(Ghana News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Cape Coast, Jan. 23, GNA – Ms. Dorothy Gordon, Director–General of Advanced Information Technology Institute Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE), has paid a courtesy call on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor John Nelson Buah. The meeting was to discuss collaboration with UCC in Information Technology and the possibility of AITI-KACE to partner the Department of Computer Science and Information and Communication Technology to build the capacity of lecturers. It also centered on AITI-KACE offering short courses in specialized areas in ICT for students of the Department. Welcoming her the Pro-Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for UCC to tap the rich experience of AITI-KACE which can boast of the state-of-the-art facilities and that such a partnership would expose both faculty and students to the new trends in ICT. Ms. Gordon commended UCC for producing high calibre Computer Science and IT students, "I must say that UCC Computer Science products I have worked with have proved their worth". She said as part of their mandate, AITI-KACE is expected to provide ICT training and capacity building to public institutions and organisations in West Africa.
