Alienware to release Steam Machines annually [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Alienware has announced its plans to release Steam Machines annually. However, these Steam Machines will not be customizable, much like a console.  General Manager Frank Azor explains to TrustedReviews, "Lifecycle wise, consoles update every five, six, seven years, we will be updating our Steam Machines every year. There will be no customisation options – you can't really update it. The platform will continue to evolve as the games become more resource intensive." "If you actually want to customise your Alienware Steam Machine, maybe change your graphics card out or put in a new CPU, you would be better off with the standard Alienware X51. This particular product is restricted in its upgrade options," he added.

Alienware first announced its Steam Machine in January this year. The sleek gaming box will release sometime in September, and will carry a price tag inline with next-gen consoles.

A $499 high-end PC system? Now that would interesting.
