Advanced Learning to showcase CMIS timetabling software for higher and further education sector institutions at BETT2014

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Leading software provider, Advanced Learning (Advanced) is demonstrating its market leading timetabling software solutions, CMIS and CMISGo on stand C493 at BETT2014 (22 January 25 January 2014 at Excel London). Advanced will be demonstrating CMIS functionality which automates timetabling and resource planning processes. CMIS ensures that the best fit timetable can be provided for staff and students while maintaining the best use of resources. It is designed to increase the efficiency of an institutions use of resources to bring about real financial benefit. CMIS includes; fully integrated online web tools, room booking, equipment booking, examination scheduling, registers and student allocation facilities.

Advanced Learning staff will also be demonstrating CMISGo, a recent innovation which enables staff and students to publish timetable information and updates via mobile devices using web and SMS technology. Steve Dashwood, Managing Director, Advanced Learning, comments: Although timetabling has typically not been seen as business critical this is now changing. Higher and further education organisations are under increasing pressure to manage their resources more efficiently and cost-effectively as a direct result of changes to student fee structures and significant reductions in grant funding.

CMIS enables administrators to manage every aspect of timetable planning and resource allocation in a fraction of the times it takes to do manually. It also streamlines the entire process from start to finish. Staff are able to decide which resources are best suited to a courses individual fee structure and allocate these as appropriate. Advanced recently won a five year contract to provide both solutions to the University of Westminster. The university will be using CMIS and CMISGo to provide timetables for over 22,000 students and 1,000 staff and manage resources across four main campuses, each of which accommodate lecture theatres and seminar space alongside laboratories, studios and corporate accommodation.

Martin Stevens, Timetabling Project Manager, University of Westminster says: We are impressed with the Advanced Learning team and the software and are confident it will generate many benefits for our students, academic staff and support teams. We plan to use the solutions to introduce self-servicing to students and staff. In the future, students will be able to book study and studio space online from their mobile devices or PCs and academic staff will be able to book lecture and other space with specific facilities.

In addition to showcasing CMIS and CMISGo, Advanced Learning staff will also be demonstrating other products including Progresso MIS. Progresso is a powerful management information system designed to provide school and academy stakeholders, including teachers, parents and support staff with secure and rapid access to student information via an easy to use web-based interface. Visitors to stand C493 can also expect to learn about the operational and commercial benefits of moving to cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) model. These include reduced time and expense involved in maintaining physical IT infrastructure and a transition from a capital expenditure model to one based on operational expenditure, enabling schools and colleges to make limited budgets work harder for them.
