Homeless get IT savvy [Daily Post (Liverpool, England)]

(Daily Post (Liverpool, England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) RESIDENTS at a homeless hostel are working on developing their IT skills thanks to a donation of two computers by BT.

The North Wales Housing-managed Pendinas hostel at Bangor previously had no IT equipment, meaning all forms, job applications and correspondence had to be completed by hand or using external PCs.

Through support by staff, service users are now able to develop basic skills, which will help them as they continue to make the journey back towards independent living.

Hostel manager Else Lyon said: "IT skills are critical in today's society and the wider jobs market.

"With funding already incredibly strained, there is no way that we could afford to purchase any equipment, so this donation is fantastic." (c) 2014 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
