The congress had attracted over 400 participants - students, graduate engineers and industry professionals - from all over Pakistan. Prof. Chowdhry also announced that soon a petition will be filed to form IEEE Jamshoro subsection under IEEE Karachi Section.

This will give many advantages to students of universities near Jamshoro. Engr. Parkash Loh-ana, Vice Chairman IEEE Karachi Section, highlighted learning opportunities provided by IEEE within engineering sciences, research and technology. IEEE Education Program's goal is to ensure growth of skill and knowledge in engineering related professions and to boost commitment for continuing education among IEEE members, engineers, scientifistits and general public. Prof Dr MA Uqaili, MUET's Pro Vice Chancellor and chief guest of the inauguration ceremony, eulogised IEEE's role as a leading standards making organisations in the world. He said that through its Standards Association, IEEE performs standards making and maintaining functions.

These standards affect a wide range of industries including: power and energy, biomedical and healthcare, IT, telecom, transportation, nanotechnology, information assurance, and many more. MUET will extend all cooperation organizing IEEE activities. The event included 11 seminars, 4 technical lectures, 9 competitions, a panel discussion and 2 keynote talks from highly distinguished speakers. Technical lectures covered telecom, electronics and electrical engineering. Competitions included Project Competition, Matlab Programming, Networking, Innovative Ideas, Poster Competition, Programming Competition, Gaming and Videography Competitions amongst others.

Panel discussion had John White of USAID Power Distribution Program, Engr. Tufail A. Shaikh, Dr Faisal Karim Shaikh, Engr. Parkash Lohana and Prof Dr MR Abro. They discussed what the country requires from its engineers for progress and also took audience questions . Keynote speaker on Day 1 was Prof. Dr. Tariq Durrani, eminent research professor affiliated with University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. He is also IEEE President Elect for 2013.
