Social enterprise considers IT collaborations [Newcastle Journal (England)](Newcastle Journal (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A STOCKTON-BASED social enterprise which relied on experts from Teesside University to help it resolve computer problems is considering further collaborative IT projects. Community Campus, which works to reduce homelessness in the Tees Valley, turned to the university to help it overcome difficulties with its IT infrastructure. Development administrator Michelle Shaw said: "We were aware that the ICT infrastructure was operating inefficiently. "We approached a lot of external providers who gave us lots of different options but we were nervous about committing to one solution as we were limited to what we could do without spending a lot of money." Andrew Gibbon, a senior server technician from Teesside University, however, was able to work with Community Campus to carry out an audit of its computer usage. Monitoring the connections between sites, he recognised the communication links needed upgrading. Gibbon also worked with employee Anthony McHale to develop his IT skills. Teesside University's vice-chancellor, Professor Graham Henderson CBE DL, is a patron of Community Campus, which is now considering bringing in the university to help with the likes of implementing a new human resources database and Microsoft Sharepoint bespoke training.
