Cellcontrol's DriveID Receives CES 2014 Best of Innovations Honors

Baton Rouge, LA, Nov 13, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- CellcontrolTM, the world's leading technology to end distracted driving, was chosen as a 2014 CES Best of Innovations honoree for its driver identification platform, DriveID(TM). Chosen by a panel of technology and innovations experts, the company joins a small, elite group of innovators that receives the honor each year.

Unveiled earlier this year at CTIA(TM), Cellcontrol's groundbreaking technology is the industry's first distracted driving solution that also provides driver identification, and the accuracy required for user-based insurance (UBI) programs. DriveID(TM) accurately detects who sits in the driver's seat, and only applies a safety policy to that individual's mobile devices - leaving passengers free to talk, text, email and browse.

"We are very proud to be among a talented group of visionaries," said Robert Guba, CEO of Cellcontrol." "DriveID is an example of how we continue to overcome industry challenges as the future of UBI and distracted driving prevention relies on intelligent driver identification. We hope to remain a part of the award roster in years to come as Cellcontrol continues to extend our product line and capabilities and reduce the number of preventable auto crashes." Despite 47 states enacting legislation against distracted driving, the public safety issue remains a very real and endemic problem both at home and at work, costing thousands of lives and millions of dollars in litigation and penalties. According to the National Safety Council, over 860,000 accidents occurred so far in 2013 alone due to texting and driving.

In January 2014, consumers and fleet administrators can purchase a solar-powered DriveID device, which is simply placed on a vehicle's windshield. This eco-friendly device can function standalone or can integrate with Cellcontrol's signature non-pairing Bluetooth technology to provide additional UBI information.
