Canon U.S.A. Debuts New Branding and Finishing Options for varioPRINT DP Line of Digital Presses at PRINT 13

MELVILLE, N.Y. --(Business Wire)--

Canon (News - Alert) U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, will unveil new branding and finishing options for its varioPRINT DP line of monochrome digital presses at PRINT 13 in Chicago (booth # 502). Pairing Océ DirectPress Technology and PRISMAsync operations management with Canon in-line finishing, the Canon varioPRINT 135/120/110 models will offer the optional Finisher AK-1 and Saddle Finisher AK-2, each featuring a new jogging capability to help ensure neatly aligned finished stacks and improved stapling capabilities, including the ability to staple custom-size media.

Designed for the quick printing, print-for-pay and in-plant/CRD environments, the Canon varioPRINT DP line also will offer a Professional Puncher option for high-volume punching with interchangeable dies. With engine speeds of up to 135, 120 and 110 letter-sized images per minute, respectively, the varioPRINT DP line can also utilize a diverse range of additional scanning and finishing options from the Canon imagePRESS digital press line.

"The new finishing options for the varioPRINT DP line will provide increased functionality to an already highly configurable production platform," said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. "Once again, the Canon varioPRINT DP line redefines excellence in black and white printing by delivering an outstanding combination of performance and workflow integration capabilities."

At the heart of the system is Océ DirectPress technology, which does not use light, high temperatures or electrical charges to create an image, making it a reliable and more sustainable alternative to traditional technologies for the black-and-white market. A low fusing temperaure results in greater media integrity and allows for precise finishing. Océ DirectPress technology also replaces the multiple process steps used in traditional electrophotographic printing technologies with a single, digital, no-variable process resulting in highly stable and consistent quality output.

For printers seeking to reduce their environmental impact, the varioPRINT DP line produces no ozone emissions and recycles heat by transferring the heat used to fuse toner onto paper from printed sheets to new sheets entering the print path. With these and other technologies incorporated into the design of the varioPRINT DP line, customers can reduce their energy consumption, a unique benefit when compared to other digital press systems in its class.

To enhance in-house productivity, PRISMAsync operation management software makes it easy for operators to manage complex print jobs while delivering image consistency. The powerful PRISMAsync controller closely integrates with other Océ PRISMA workflow solutions to help automate steps within the print production process. For increased automation in the make ready process, the number of hotfolders available in the updated varioPRINT DP models have been extended to 250.

The varioPRINT DP 135/120/110 digital presses are available through Canon Authorized Dealers at the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) starting at $50,500. The optional Finisher AK-1 and Saddle Finisher AK-2 are available at an MSRP of $10,395 and $17,850, respectively. The Professional Puncher-B1 option has an MSRP of $15,000. Actual prices are set by individual dealers and may vary. For more information, please visit www.usa.canon.com.
