Gazette.com's 'renovation' debuts with new look, feel

May 01, 2013 (The Gazette (Colorado Springs - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Compare the new gazette.com to an ongoing home renovation: We hope you'll see that it's more modern, cleaner and even better organized. However, because it's ongoing, we know it'll need tweaks along the way.

So Wednesday, after our 30-day countdown, we're introducing the new gazette.com as our continuing commitment to improve our various platforms to provide news, information and content to you.

We're changing the format of Page A2 on Wednesday so you can see what's new with your website and how to use it more effectively. Please note that Page 2 will return to its regular format Thursday.

Here's what you'll notice immediately at gazette.com: The rotator area has been eliminated, so we can present more of the top news of the day to you. We think this new approach will provide you with easier access to stories, photos and videos.

You'll see more entry points on the main page so you can find more local, national and international news, business, sports, features and other content of interest to you.

The Green Edition has been renamed the e-Edition. Even with the name change, you shouldn't have any problem in accessing the online news pages as you did before.

The death notices have been combined with 'Tributes ' to provide more information on those who have died in our community.

One exciting new feature is the introduction of Photo Stream, which gives you access to thousands of international, national and state photos of interest as well as photos taken by the award-winning Gazette photographers and others. We'll also feature our photos and videos more prominently.

We've changed gazette.com to make it more user-friendly so you find stories and content, both current and past, more easily. We've reworked our Classifieds area so those ads are easier to find and easier to navigate. And we've worked to make our multimedia and in-depth content more accessible on the main page.

You'll see that we'll feature the news that is trending more prominently, and, in the future, we'll aggregate news and content that is about or affects this region so you'll have quick access to it.

Yes, we're hoping you'll see that gazette.com is a better and easier-to-use website, and that we will constantly seek to improve and make it better for you. Please take a few minutes to review the new site and let us know what you think by going to gazette.com/welcome or by clicking on the 'Welcome to the new gazette.com ' banner on the main page.

As with any renovation, please excuse us if you notice anything that doesn't work quite right. We'll work hard to correct it immediately.
