Firefox OS powered smartphones minimum requirements revealed - News [T-break Tech (Middle East)]

(T-break Tech (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mozilla has finally talked about the minimum system requirements for smartphone manufacturers to use their upcoming Firefox (mobile) OS. Coming in at a modest 800MHz single-core processor with 256MB RAM and a 320x240 (QVGA) resolution, the Firefox OS is a far cry from the likes of Windows Phone 8 and Android Jelly Bean OS whose even mid-range phones are at least dual-core with twice the RAM and five times the resolution.  Additionally the Firefox Marketplace and obviously the Firefox mobile browser will need to be a part of the open source OS for the Firefox branding to be placed on the smartphone, as reported by The Verge . The recently announced Alcatel One Touch Fire with 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 512MB storage and 3.5-inch screen is the perfect example of the type of low-cost solution Mozilla is going for. Their primary target, it seems, are users from emerging markets who want a cheap smartphone, and for the mass market, it may well be that instead of Android powered devices, their first smartphone would be a Firefox OS device.  Firefox OS powered smartphones are expected to launch later this year, with mass availability of handsets from manufacturers like LG, Sony, Huawei in 2014.
