GlobalSign Partners with Hitachi on Secure Mobile Solutions

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2013 GlobalSign, the enterprise SaaS Certificate Authority, and Hitachi, the leading global electronics company, announced today at RSA a technology partnership around the integration of Hitachi’s KeyMobile MSD solution and GlobalSign’s digital credentials for mobile devices, delivered and managed through its Enterprise PKI platform. The integration will allow organizations to deploy strong authentication to networks using popular mobile devices including Android and Windows devices.

By securing digital credentials (known as Digital Certificates) in Hitachi’s tamper resistant KeyMobile microSD card embedded within the mobile device, organizations can reduce network breach vulnerabilities often caused by man in the middle attacks caused with weak passwords. Protecting Digital Certificates on secure hardware significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized users accessing sensitive and private resources.

“GlobalSign is excited about the Hitachi technology partnership as it brings another secure mobile management option to our customer base. Merging our technologies offers organizations a way to implement strong authentication to a growing number of employer furnished and employee owned devices,” said Lila Kee, Chief Product Officer GlobalSign, “With the smartcard residing in the microSD chip, enterprises can avoid costly and clumsy external smart card readers, giving employees the convenience without a security trade-off. “ As Mobile devices usage continues to soar, organizations must face the realities that their workforce has tremendous productivity opportunities if these devices are leveraged securely and in a method employees can easily adopt. Securing GlobalSign’s Enterprise PKI digital certificates into the smartcard of Hitachi’s KeyMobileMSD is the perfect match of security and convenience. Utilizing the microchip’s memory capability, administrators can easily install additional resources (drivers, apps, files) directly onto the chip sparing users from requiring separate installations of vital resources needed to enable secure connections to the network.

Koichi Nakai, President of Security&Smart ID Solutions Division, Hitachi, Ltd adds, Hitachi is pleased to bring to market with GlobalSign a cost effective and secure solution for remote Mobile device users to connect WiFi and VPN networks to access vital resources needed to stay productive.
