Armenia : New computer centers operating in Martuni and Chambarak towns of Gegharkunik region with the support of Orange [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Orange continues the realization of its projects aimed at the community development and technological evolution of the regions of Armenia.

Two modern computer centers furnished with Orange broadband Internet were opened recently in Martuni and Chambarak towns of Gegharkunik region that allow the inhabitants of these two locations, without the necessity to have a computer and internet at home, to use modern technologies, learn to use different programs, have access to the world net, participate in online discussions and forum, as well as in educational programs.

Francis Gelibter, Orange Armenia CEO said: Orange has done a lot of efforts to build a modern network in Armenia and to make modern technologies available to everyone. But understanding that not everyone can afford to have a computer at home and have access to internet, we feel it s our responsibility to support these vulnerable groups, especially in the Armenian regions, where internet is just starting to become an everyday tool.

The computer center of Martuni has been created in cooperation with Eurasia Partnership Foundation, as part of its development program of alternative media. Thanks to the 5 computers, printer and Orange Flybox router the computer center provides computer classes, but also those of use of blogging platforms and online journalism. For the creation of this computer center Orange has allotted 2 MLN AMD.

The computer center of Chambarak has been created in cooperation with the local Berkashat NGO. It also has 5 computers, a printer and Orange Flybox router, which allow the inhabitants of Chambarak and surrounding villages not only to be in touch with the world, but also have computer classes. For the creation of this computer center Orange has allotted 1.9 MLN AMD.

This initiative of Orange was implemented in the frames of the strategic program of support to sustainable development of remote and vulnerable communities, which aims to boost and support social and economic development of these communities and help them fully benefit from the high technologies.

As a reminder, Orange is the only operator having built a network with up to 21.6Mbps download speed capabilities in the regions of Armenia and an up to 42.2 Mbps network in the four largest cities, with the objective to make accessible modern technologies to the largest part of the population. This is with this logic that the company supports the creation of computer rooms in the regions, which are already at a number of 15.
