Webroot Appoints David Duncan Chief Marketing Officer


BROOMFIELD, Colo., Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Webroot, a leader in delivering Internet security as a service, today announced the appointment of David Duncan as chief marketing officer. With more than 30 years of senior marketing and security experience, Duncan will lead Webroot's global marketing strategy.

Most recently, he was responsible for developing and leading the CyberSafe(TM) secure storage go-to-market product strategy for Imation Corporation, having joined Imation after the acquisition of EncryptX in 2011, where he was founder, president and managing director for 10 years. EncryptX, a venture-backed company, developed endpoint security, removable storage security and email security products, and had more than 150 enterprise customers and protected over 20 million devices worldwide. Duncan also served on McAfee's embedded solutions advisory committee for the last two years as a result of EncryptX's efforts to enable McAfee's Anti-Virus/Malware protection for deployment on removable storage devices.

Prior to EncryptX, Duncan held several executive marketing positions, including senior vice president of marketing of Tactical Marketing Ventures, a marketing consulting company that developed go-to-market strategy and tactics for more than 150 technology companies, and vice president of marketing, account management & sales for RL Polk's Consumer Information Services Division, a database marketing, direct marketing, marketing analytics and market research company with more than $400M in sales. Duncan also served in marketing leadership roles with Storage Technology Corporation, including co-founding and running marketing for a strategic business unit focused on indirect channels that grew revenue from $11M to more than $170M in three years.

In addition, he authored a Bayesian logic computer software program used to assess information security exploit risks for classified computer systems, and he is the author/co-author on four patent applications related to information security, encryption, digital rights management and authentication technologies.

Duncan received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado in Marketing and International Business, a master's degree in Computer Information Systems from Regis University, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, and is a graduate of the Presidio of Monterey Defense Language Institute in Chinese Mandarin.
