Was Apple's iPhone 5S Confirmed?

(Benzinga Lightning Feed Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) may deny the existence of a cheaper iPhone, but the company has said nothing about the rumored iPhone 5S.

And if a picture is worth a thousand words, AppleInsider might have all the proof anyone needs.

The site has uncovered a number of pictures (which first appeared on the Chinese blog sjbbs.zol.com) that show the inner components of what could be the next iPhone. It is assumed that these images are not from the iPhone 6. Rather, they supposedly come from an interim device that will provide consumers with an iPhone upgrade before the next full version is ready. Thus, these images are believed to be from the iPhone 5S.

Even if the pictures are real, that merely confirms the existence of another iPhone -- nothing more. Consumers already know that Apple is working on another smartphone. After selling nearly 48 million handsets in the last quarter, the company would be foolish not to proceed with an upgrade.

That said, the most important features -- a faster processor, an improved camera, new software, etc. -- cannot be found in these images.

However, consumers who look closely will notice an ominous-looking scenario in which seven individuals (who are supposedly employees of Foxconn) are wearing protective attire that covers nearly every inch of their skin. It looks like a scene out of a movie, but it could be the spy shot of a top-secret facility where iPhone 5S units are being assembled.
