ViaSat reports net loss for Q3


Feb 11, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- ViaSat Inc., a provider of satellite and other wireless networking systems and services, has reported a net loss attributable to the company of $20.78 million, or $0.47 loss per diluted share, for the third quarter ended December 28, 2012, compared to a net income attributable to the company of $5.14 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, for the same quarter ended December 30, 2011.



Total revenues for the third quarter ended December 28, 2012 were $286.44 million, compared to $204.96 million for the same quarter ended December 30, 2011.

Net loss attributable to the company for the nine months ended December 28, 2012 was $43.1 million, or $0.99 loss per diluted share, compared to a net income attributable to the company of $14.87 million, or $0.34 per diluted share, for the same period ended December 30, 2011.


Total revenues for the nine months ended December 28, 2012 were $811.03 million, compared to $623.09 million for the same period ended December 30, 2011.

"Our fiscal third quarter delivered strong growth in key metrics for all our business segments. We gained more momentum in our Exede satellite broadband service, growing net adds over 50% sequentially to almost 38,000 for the quarter, while yielding continued sequential growth in Adjusted EBITDA," said Mark Dankberg, chairman and CEO of ViaSat.

"Our Government Systems segment posted record revenues and over 70% Adjusted EBITDA growth, along with solid orders. Our Commercial Networks segment revenues are up over 25%, driven by Ka-band network systems.
