BSNL buildings comply with GDCR norms, says lawyer [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)](DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "A bench of Gujarat high court comprising chief justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and justice JB Pardiwala, on Friday, adjourned a petition seeking to instal fire safety equipment at high rise buildings in the city on Tuesday. The bench's decision follows Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) counsel protesting the fire department's notices to five of its buildings in the city. The counsel for the telecom giant submitted before the court that according to the latest GDCR norms, there is no compulsion to install safety equipment except their high rise office at Navarangpura. The other four buildings situated at Bimanagar, Raikhad, Gulbai Tekra and Jagarpur need not install safety fixtures going by the GDCR rules. The fire department has prepared a list of 25 high rise buildings, including five buildings of BSNL, which have not installed fire safety equipment since its construction. The department also issued notices to these buildings asking the authorities concerned to install the fixtures at the earliest. After hearing him, the bench asked the counsel to file an affidavit on Monday regarding their claim and posted further hearing on the matter to Monday. The bench, on Wednesday, ordered installing equipment at two residential towers. The bench had posted matter on Friday to take decision on the remaining 23 buildings.
