BRIEF: Neuros Medical Inc. of Willoughby unveils new device


Jan 11, 2013 (The News-Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Neuros Medical Inc. of Willoughby has announced the completion of its implantable generator for use in chronic pain applications. The trademarked device, named Altius, delivers its patented high frequency trademarked Electrical Nerve Block technology for patients suffering from chronic pain.



Dr. Zi-Ping Fang, chief technology officer at Neuros Medical, spearheaded the development of the device.

"I am delighted to reach this key milestone of our technology development," Fang said. "The Altius system will enable patients suffering from chronic, intractable pain to utilize a system which is completely implantable and easy to use." About one-third the size of an iPhone, the rechargeable Altius device delivers high frequency electrical nerve block technology to a targeted nerve via an implanted electrode. Patients activate the device with a small remote control, providing on-demand treatment of a chronic pain condition.


Neuros Medical, a medical device company, is focused on developing proprietary therapies for unmet needs to patients worldwide.
