Capilix, Intellitect, and Dynamax Among Exciting Startups in $1.5 Billion Water Quality Analytics Market

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

Capilix, Intellitect, and Dynamax are some of the "dominant" startups poised to revolutionize the $1.5 billion global water quality analytics market, according to a report by Lux Research.

"Advances in analytics techniques, driven over the last two decades by research in the pharmaceutical industry, have begun to find their way into water analytics," said Brent Giles, Lux Research Senior Analyst and the lead author of the report titled, "Dropwise: Leveraging the Revolutionary Value of Next-Generation Water Quality Analytics."

"Microfluidics has begun to drive down reagent volumes and has opened up new techniques to practical online analysis, and the increasing affordability of biological molecules is creatig handheld instruments with sensitivities that would have been science fiction a few years ago," he added.

Lux Research positioned water analytics technology developers on the Lux Innovation Grid based on their Technical Value and Business Execution - companies that are strong on both axes reach the "Dominant" quadrant. They also assessed each company's maturity, and provided an overall Lux Take. Among their findings:

  • Dynamax high in technical value. Using a powerful DNA-based recognition approach, Dynamax is building a library of indicators to quantify heavy metals at the part per billion (ppb) level. It scores high in technical value because its technology can handle difficult environments and offer continuous monitoring.
  • Intellitect advances standard probes. Intellitect offers a suite of common sensors that can be used on a single pipe, helping drinking water companies redefine how they monitor water quality in their distribution systems.
  • Capilix taps agriculture market. The Netherlands-based Capilix uses miniaturized capillary electrophoresis sensors that can read a wide range of agriculturally relevant parameters to monitor water quality. Early customers include greenhouse growers, and the firm is also targeting the anaerobic digestor market.

The report, titled "Dropwise: Leveraging the Revolutionary Value of Next-Generation Water Quality Analytics," is part of the Lux Research Water Intelligence service.
