Code Together Delivers Record Growth; Adds More than 600 Customers in Past Six Months

Bloomington, Indiana, Jan 08, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Code Together, LLC, the real-time, online collaboration solutions provider, today announced it had a record year of growth, and continues to see increasing interest in its flagship, Web-based collaborative code editor, Squad. In the last six months alone, more than 600 customers have had first-hand experience with Squad's ability to allow multiple people to work on a piece of code at the same time, alleviating the need for all the back and forth of typical code sharing. Squad's ability to be used across geographies, anywhere there is an Internet connection, makes it ideal for remote and distributed development teams, as well as online educators and students that may be in various locations.

"2012 was a really successful year for us at Code Together," said Hillary Cage, CEO. "We moved our flagship platform forward, introduced a significant number of new features, unveiled an attractive licensing option, and began work on evolving into new ways to work better together. We're excited about what 2013 will bring, and look forward to introducing new solutions that help individuals and companies handle complex online content from websites to company intranets to rich media." Founded in 2009, Code Together has made tremendous strides in technology innovation year over year to deliver on the capabilities of real-time code editing, ultimately allowing developers to iterate products faster. This past year Code Together extended key features/capabilities to its core platform, including: -New Look, Flexibility, and Licensing: With a new way to look at code editing, users can leverage multiple editor windows at the same time. Windows allow users to view files side by side, and to move file tabs to different windows. Windows also allow users to set up their workspace just the way they like it: they can close chat, file browser, and Simple Git, work on different files within a shared workspace, or just about any arrangement that works best for them. Chat, the file browser, and Simple Git are always accessible via the icons in the toolbar. The Free plan provides all the basics and gives users the ability to experience real-time code editing. Premium features such as Git integration and team management are available with paid subscription plans.

-Vim Keybindings: After talking with many dedicated vim users, it became clear that vim compatibility was a vital feature. Fortunately, CodeMirror, the open source text editor Squad is built upon, makes it relatively easy to add vim keybindings within Squad. It's worth noting that selecting vim mode in a workspace won't affect the keybindings for anyone who joins the workspace; every participant can choose vim or normal keybindings, whichever they prefer.

-Simple Git Integration: With the addition of Simple Git integration, users can access Git repositories via SSH and do basic Git operations right in their Squad window.

-Dropbox Integration: Users can now edit Dropbox files collaboratively, just like they edit local files and SFTP/FTP files, with a quick click and set up.

-Agile Programming Alignment: Squad provides a unique opportunity for coders working in agile teams to interact even more closely with each other and the code. Whatever level of agile programming a user decides on, from totally pure to a hybrid implementation, Squad's enhanced communication and collaboration add important elements to the process. The ability to obtain feedback from multiple people in real-time is one of Squad's many strengths; whether a user is in the same room or across the country, Squad provides the platform for sharing, reviewing, and updating code - aligning nicely to agile programming principles.

Given the unprecedented demand for efficient, talented developers, geography will soon become the biggest single barrier to maintaining industry growth. This is especially true with regard to emerging companies and mobile developers in areas like Boston, Indiana, Israel, the Research Triangle, Silicon Valley, and Silicon Alley, among other locations. With the rise of outsourced development teams, ensuring integrity and quality of code is as important as ever. The ability to code collaboratively online, in real-time helps breaks down barriers and facilitates shortened iteration cycles.
