Harris awarded USD66m network maintenance contract by USAF Space Command


Dec 21, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Communications and information technology company Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) on Thursday announced the award of the fifth option year of its Network and Space Operations and Maintenance (NSOM) contract to operate, maintain and logistically support the US Air Force Space Command's 50th Space Wing mission.



Harris said that the one-year, USD66m option brings the overall value of the programme to date to USD351m. The total potential value of the six and a half year contract, which was initially awarded in 2008, is USD418m.

Under the contract, the Harris team provides support to both inbound and outbound data and communications with Department of Defence satellites, delivering operations and maintenance support to the Air Force Satellite Control Network's equipment at ten locations worldwide.


The Harris contract team includes ASRC Aerospace, Arctic Slope World Services, Avaya Government Solutions, Faith Enterprises Incorporated, Gunther Douglas and Lockheed Martin Information Technology.
