Former Quest Executive Jon Rolls Joins AppSense as Chief Technology Officer of Enterprise

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

AppSense, the people-centric computing company, today announced that Jon Rolls has joined the company as chief technology officer (CTO) of Enterprise. Working closely with AppSense Chief Development Officer (CDO), Keith Turnbull, Rolls will be responsible for overseeing the vision of the company's User Virtualization Platform. In this new role, Rolls rounds out the AppSense Office of the CTO to provide a seasoned bench of technologists that will help meet the needs of enterprises and their employees in response to the rapid growth of BYOD and the mobile workforce.

"As enterprises respond to the combined pressures of BYOD and consumerization, the focus on user virtualization and shift to people-centric computing will drive a significant part of the company's future growth," said Darron Antill, CEO of AppSense. "I am thrilled to have Jon join our team to continue to lead our virtualization and desktop technologies, as well as complete the office of the CTO."

Rolls brings more than 15 years of software industry and Windows management experience, including product management roles with Citrix, ScriptLogic (News - Alert), and virtualization and web acceleration startups. Prior to joining AppSense, Rolls served as vice president of product management for Quest's User Workspace Management group, which was acquired by Dell earlier this year.

A recent Forrester (News - Alert) report identifies user virtualization as the independent management of a user's experience, including user settings across their data, applications, and the OS. According to this same reprt, user virtualization solutions are poised to experience moderate success over the next one to three years as I&O professionals look to provision personalized, consistent, and rich user experiences across a range of application and desktop delivery architectures and devices. The same report found that AppSense solutions lead the way in understanding the context, such as identity, location, device, and time, which together with content and security make up the user's workspace.

"Coming to AppSense is an honor and I'm delighted to expand the strategy of our market-leading enterprise products and services," said Jon Rolls, CTO for Enterprise at AppSense. "It's an exciting time to be part of such a fast growing company as we help enterprises virtualize the user experience, allowing them to embrace the shifts in IT strategy brought about consumerization and BYOD."
