Dec 09, 2012 (The News Virginian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Howdyshell named secretary of regional electric board Larry Howdyshell of Mount Solon has been named the secretary of the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives board of directors for 2012-13.



Howdyshell, who represents the Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative, is a former member of the Augusta County Board of Supervisors and has a farm in Mount Solon.

Heifetz Institute receives NEA grant The Heifetz International Music Institute of Staunton has been awarded a $25,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant to support performance and communication training.


The Heifetz Institute offers a six-week summer training program for 62 young violinists, violists and cellists from around the world on the campus of Mary Baldwin College.

The institute includes advanced musical training, communication training and solo/chamber music performances in Staunton and around the country.
