"We put on this mobile games hackathon with Jibe Mobile to support indie developers," said Sabine Duvall, CEO of Slimstown Studios. "In addition to working with the makers of 'Lance of Justice' to get it published, we want to help other developers get the word out about their games. This hackathon is just one of several initiatives we have to help everyone succeed." "Multiplayer gaming on mobile devices creates tremendous new monetization opportunities for developers since these games are inherently viral," said Dan Seyer, Marketing Vice President of Jibe Mobile. "Jibe provides developers with the ability to create the required 'low latency' game session to enable the explosion of real-time, multiplayer mobile gaming. The winners of this weekend's hackathon demonstrated how quickly talented developers can create this type of powerful multiplayer experience for gamers on mobile." Cash Prizes First prize of $5,000 was awarded to team BitGym for the development of mobile game "Bad Juju", a multiplayer tower-defense game that allows head-to-head gameplay driven by motion-sensing technology embedded in the game that detects movement from each player exercising. Second prize of $3,000 went to developer Yosun Chang for the development of the Roadtrip Shootout mobile game, an "endless driver", in which online co-op play allows player one to drive while another player shoots zombies from the passenger side. Third prize of $2,000 was earned by David Lluncor and Akiva Bamberger of team Byunks for "Bubble Racer"-- a bubble-popping race, multiplayer mobile game with live video chat.
