Offering all functions needed for an IP camera design, NXP Semiconductors (News - Alert) has unveiled its Advanced ASC884xA and ASC885xA series of single-chip video processors for HD IP security cameras.

These chips are a range of pin-to-pin compatible, high-definition surveillance camera products. To safeguard transmission over the network, they bring together the complete functionality from raw image sensor data input, image signal processing (ISP), and high-profile H.264 compression.

The new advanced series supports H.264 High Profile encoding, along with the ability to take about 60 frames per second at Full HD resolution (1080p/60). Even though it uses less than 1.5 W of power, compared to other solutions on the market today, it still gets the best power efficiency and lowest bit rate.

With the help of state-of-the-art ISP features, the ASC884xA and ASC885xA devices facilitate highly clear video images. They also provide very flexible spatial and temporal (2D/3D) noise reduction, and provide very good low-light performance.

According to NXP, this is important for security cameras that work under a wide range of lighting conditions.

"With our new Advanced series of video processors, HD IP camera makers and OEMs no longer have to settle for poor-quality pictures - or settle for power-hungry chips that run so hot they burn to the touch," said Rick Dumont, global marketing director for IP camera products at NXP Semiconductors. "The Advanced Series is taking networked video surveillance to the next level, enabling stunningly clear HD motion-picture images - even indoors and at night."

Recently, the company introduced the SSL4120 a GreenChip resonant half-bridge controller. The company has introduced this chip along with combined power factor correction (PFC) for high-power LED applications up to 400W. For high-power LED applications such as office lighting, shop lighting, high-bay and low-bay lighting, parking garage lighting, area lighting and street lighting, the single-chip SSL4120 is a high-efficiency solution.
