Verizon expands 4G LTE network to 12 more sites in Rochester area

Nov 28, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Provider of wireless network and wireless services Verizon Wireless said on Tuesday that it has activated a new 4G LTE coverage on 12 sites in the Rochester area.

The new 4G LTE sites are located in Rochester (two sites), Bergen, Geneva, Honeoye, Huron, Macedon, Marion, Palmyra, Penn Yan, Savannah and Warsaw. This activation expands and fills in coverage on the company's' 4G LTE a network it launched locally in December 2010.

Verizon's 4G LTE offers speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks. In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon's 4G LTE users will experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

Reportedly, as of 15 November 2012, the company's 4G LTE network is available to over 250 million people in more than 440 markets throughout the US.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) (Nasdaq:VZ) and Vodafone (LSE:VOD)(Nasdaq:VOD).
