China: Total Internetwork Bandwidth Reaches 984.9G


BEIJING, Nov 28, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- As of now, total bandwidth between different networks in China has jumped from 671.9G reported at the beginning of this year to 984.9G, growing 46.65%.

Statistics from the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) show that different internet operators have expanded the capacity of internetwork bandwidth by 313G, improving 152.42% from the volume expanded last year.

Among different internet operators, China Telecom Corporation Limited (SEHK: 0728 and NYSE:CHA) and China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050) saw expanded capacity of internetwork bandwidth of 60G at the beginning of this year and of 120G in October, while the capacity of the bandwidth between the two companies' network has been expanded from 70G at the beginning of this year to 90G as of now.



Meanwhile, the switching center saw the bandwidth capacity increment of 10G between China Telecom and China Mobile network and 30G such increase between China Unicom and China Tietong Telecom network. And the access bandwidth between different units of the switching center has been expanded from original 80G to existing 120G.

Apart from educational operators whose demand of bandwidth capacity enlargement between China Telecom and China Unicom network has not been satisfied, the internetwork demand posed by other internet units at the beginning of this year has been basically met.
