EchoStar satellite commences post-launch maneuvers


Nov 23, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Communications and information company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd (MDA) announced on Thursday that its subsidiary Space Systems/Loral (SS/L), a provider of commercial satellites, has reported that the EchoStar XVI satellite, which was designed and built for EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS), is successfully performing post-launch maneuvers, following its successful launch on 20 November 2012.



The company said that the satellite has deployed its solar arrays according to plan, after it was launched on an ILS Proton from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

EchoStar XVI is a 20-kilowatt direct broadcast satellite that will be positioned at 61.5 degrees West longitude. It is fully leased to DISH Network for use in its Direct-to-Home (DTH) services in the US.
