TEM, WEM and MDM Association, TEMIA Gathers Industry Leaders and Affirms Top Priorities at Annual Meeting in New York

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Westlake Village, CA (PRWEB) June 26, 2012 The Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA), the authoritative voice for the Telecom Expense Management (TEM), Wireless Expense Management (WEM), Mobile Device Management (MDM) and solutions providers in related areas hosted its annual meeting for members in New York. Twenty-five companies and 33 attendees came to the meeting. In addition, TEMIA hosted Tom Eagle, research director for managed services from Gartner, Inc. and James McCubbin, executive vice president and chief financial officer from WidePoint Corporation.

Mr. McCubbin presented an introduction to acquisitions with a focus on sellers. The meeting featured a discussion regarding the Future of TEM and the need for the industry to adopt a new term. After the meeting, TEMIA’s Executive Board settled on two options with a final selection to be determined by its members. In addition, the meeting featured panel discussions on Bring Your Own Device to Work (BYOD) and its impact on the industry, Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Industry Standards. TEMIA has clear action items to develop papers and surveys for its members to support industry standards, ROI and the business case for product offerings.

At the annual meeting, there were also elections for open board positions. TEMIA’s executive board provides leadership, overseas policy and sets direction for TEMIA. The team is critical to driving greater levels of success for TEMIA, and the entire TEM, WEM and MDM industry. Kevin Whitehurst from mindWireless was reelected as treasurer and Erik Eames, founder and managing director, of Wireless Analytics, LLC. was elected to an at-large board position.

“I am honored to be selected to join the TEMIA board”, said Erik Eames. “TEMIA is helping to drive best practices in telecommunications management for enterprises across all industries and markets. I’m looking forward to joining many of my peers in helping to steer the dialog and adding value for our customers.” “This was my first time attending a TEMIA meeting. Despite our differences, it was amazing to see how we can work together to address many common industry challenges,” said Cameron Sowder, director of TEM operations and strategy for Manage Mobility. “It was great to see how the experiences of TEMIA members play a role in shaping the association’s agenda and decision-making. I definitely plan on attending more meetings in the future, and help with recruiting more firms to join TEMIA,” he added.

“There is something magical that occurs at TEMIA meetings; we see the depth of thought-leadership within the association, the diversity of solutions providers (large and small, comprehensive and niche) and gauge the overall health of our industry,” said James Price TEMIA executive board president, and president of ICOMM Consulting. “It is amazing to see competitors work to establish best practices and industry standards. This is an important first step on a journey,” added Price.

In addition to the Executive Board, TEMIA now has four committees, which manage the work of the association with a focus on public relations, membership, ethics, and industry standards. The committees meet once a month by phone to advance the goals of the association through collaboration and dialog. TEMIA’s annual meeting established clear deliverables that enable it to build on past success and help member companies maximize their investments in the association.
