Kyrgyzstan was nominated for this category among Bahrain, Colombia, Indonesia. The GSMA announced the winners of the 17th Annual Global Mobile awards, held at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 28. The Government of Colombia won the Outstanding Achievement Award in the result. Kyrgyzstan was noted for introduction of 3G, LTE and WiMax, a high penetration level, distance learning programs, affordable mobile market and reduction of administrative barriers. The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide. Spanning 219 countries, the GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world's mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, and media and entertainment organisations. The GSMA also produces industry-leading events such as the Mobile World Congress and Mobile Asia Congress.
