Cartera and TransFirst Join Forces to Accelerate Local Business Adoption of Card-Linked Offers

(Market Wire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LEXINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/21/11 -- Cartera Commerce, the leading provider of card-linked marketing solutions, and TransFirst, a leading provider of transaction processing services and payment enabling technologies, today announced a strategic marketing agreement to accelerate adoption of card-linked offers among small businesses across the United States. TransFirst will market and sell Cartera's card-linked advertising network to over 175,000 small businesses that use its leading payment processing services and technologies. Cartera will deliver full-service card-linked promotional offers -- including marketing, campaign management and reporting -- to TransFirst customers who join its network. The announcement was made today at the FinovateFall conference. [See related news also issued today from Cartera: Cartera Commerce Unveils New Solution For Local Card-Linked Offers].

With this pioneering agreement, TransFirst and Cartera will join forces to enable thousands of local U.S. merchants to use card-linked offers to acquire new customers, reward repeat shoppers, and align with the nation's top rewards and loyalty programs. Unlike Daily Deals or other local advertising solutions, Cartera card-linked offers deliver merchants risk-free, incremental revenue growth and customer loyalty without up-front costs, paper vouchers, manual tracking or changes to the point of sale.

Cartera will market offers from TransFirst merchants to the tens of millions of local cardholders in its network, who can redeem offers just by swiping their cards in merchants' stores. TransFirst merchants will fund offers only after qualifying transactions occur, and will receive detailed sales reporting including the number of new and repeat transactions driven by their offers.

"We chose to partner with Cartera because of its deep understanding of local merchants, its superior technology platform, and its large network of banks and loyalty program clients," said John Shlonsky, president and CEO of TransFirst. "Adding card-linked offers to our available programs will help our merchants generate new and repeat sales with ease. The Cartera solution varies from other loyalty platforms available in the market, offering a paper-less process with automatic rewards applied to the card the consumer uses every day. This is the type of value-added solution we seek to deliver to our merchants and one that will help us differentiate TransFirst in the market." "This partnership extends Cartera's leadership in local card-linked offers," said Tom Beecher, president and CEO of Cartera Commerce. "Our local merchants are seeing dramatic ROI and our bank and loyalty partners are excited about the opportunity to deliver local earning opportunities to their customers. Combining TransFirst's local business relationships and payment processing experience with Cartera's deep expertise in card-linked advertising will allow us to boost sales for more local merchants across the country."
