Vordel Enables Single Sign-on for Hybrid Clouds Managed by VMware vCloud Director 1.5

Sep 02, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Vordel, a provider of gateway solutions for SOA and Cloud Computing, announced at VMworld 2011 that its Vordel Gateway product will provide a single point of control for single-sign on across hybrid cloud infrastructures managed by the VMware vCloud Director 1.5.

Vordel said its latest release enables enterprises to exercise access and authentication controls across their hybrid cloud infrastructure. The joint solution removes any remaining impediments to the adoption of Cloud infrastructure as an enterprise ready service and facilitates the speedy roll out of such services.

"We welcome Vordel's announcement and their extended support for VMware vCloud Director," said Dan Chu, VP, Cloud Infrastructure and Services, VMware. "Vordel's focused solution for the federation of identity across multiple cloud domains complements the VMware strategy of accelerating the adoption by enterprises of cloud infrastructure." "We complement the VMware vCloud Director by accelerating the ability of organizations to roll out their hybrid cloud infrastructures," said Mark O'Neill, CTO at Vordel. "By delivering a single-sign on capability across a hybrid cloud infrastructure we remove the need for multiple authentication steps and the costly provisioning of users for private and public clouds." Vordel Gateway, applies a layer of identity management across the hybrid cloud infrastructure managed by the VMware vCloud Director. As organizations increasingly link private clouds to external clouds from different providers they need to persist identity-based access control policies across these domains. Vordel integrates with many existing internal identity management platforms and federates these identities and policies to permit single-sign on to externally hosted public cloud services. As a direct result, organizations can overcome the costly provisioning and management of multiple identities and accelerate the implementation of their cloud strategies.
