Seanie's son has plum job with Denis O'Brien in Fiji [Eire Region] [Mail on Sunday (England)]

(Mail on Sunday (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE son of disgraced Anglo banker Sean FitzPatrick is working for telecoms tycoon Denis O'Brien on the tropical island of Fiji.

Jonathan FitzPatrick is an executive with Mr O'Brien's Digicel mobile phone company which operates across the Pacific region incuding Central America and the Caribbean.

According to his profile on Linked-In, the business-oriented social networking website, Mr FitzPatrick is Digicel's marketing manager, while his Facebook page confirms he lives in Suva, the Fijian capital. The tiny country in the remote South Pacific, which has a population of less than 850,000, could not be further removed from the controversy and public ire that surrounds FitzPatrick Sr in Ireland.

Jonathan FitzPatrick, 34, has worked for Digicel in the region since at least 2008.

During the boom, Jonathan was involved in property deals in Ireland along with his brother David and sister Sarah. Last year the MoS reported that just months before the collapse of Anglo, Sean FitzPatrick and his family took out seven mortgages with Haven Mortgages to pay off Anglo loans and invest in new properties.

At the time legal experts told this newspaper the refinancing could be an attempt to put the properties beyond the reach of Anglo to whom FitzPatrick Sr owes EUR 87m in secret loans that he used to finance speculation in oil wells and global property schemes.

Jonathan FitzPatrick was named on one of the Haven home loans for a property in Dublin's Spencer Dock, adjacent to one owned by his sister, Sarah.

He has also been linked to the EUR 47m purchase of a Dublin 4 office building and is an investor in two central Dublin properties bought for EUR 20m, as well as being joint owner of an apartment in the IFSC.

Last night a spokesman for Mr O'Brien confirmed that Jonathan FitzPatrick has been a 'senior manager for Digicel for a number of years'.
