STEM Solutions
As the White House and U.S. Department of
Education have highlighted through such programs as Race to the Top,
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education is critical to
the future of U.S. students and the nation. At NCSM/NCTM, HMH will be
announcing a breakthrough partnership with U.S. Satellite Laboratory,
Inc. to provide online STEM professional development that results in
STEM certification - the only STEM certification endorsed by NASA and
Teachers College. HMH will also be showcasing the rest of its
comprehensive STEM solution, including STEM curricula, which not only
integrates STEM units and activities into existing math and science
curricula, but also offers video-based STEM projects that can be used
independently, such as the medically focused units that are being
co-developed with Children's Hospital, Boston. In addition, because
Indiana is playing host to NCSM/NCTM, HMH will showcase its
partnership with Museum of Science, Boston, to distribute Engineering
is Elementary, a K-5 STEM curriculum, in Indiana.
"There
has long been a need to prepare students for tomorrow's economy, and
HMH has been leading the way in developing improved STEM education,"
said Mike Lavelle, President of the Education Group, HMH.
"Administrators and educators from around the country rely on HMH's
unique capabilities to implement product solutions and professional
development to motivate a new generation of science and mathematics
learners."

depth, without having to develop new materials.
GO Math!'s
prestigious author team comprises mathematics educators and district
personnel whose diverse state and national perspectives and consummate
experience make GO Math! not only mathematically sound, but
accessible to a wide range of learners. GO Math!'s authors have
also held leadership positions within NCTM.
