China PC shipments growth to slow to 10.8pct in 2011, IDC

BEIJING, Apr 07, 2011 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- The growth of shipments of China's personal computers (PC) will slow to 10.8 percent in 2011, says a report published by the International Data Corp. (IDC) on Thursday.

But PC shipments in China's tier 4-6 cities will maintain year-on-year growth of 14.3 percent in 2011, according to the report.

The IDC predicts that PC shipments in China's northwestern and northeastern regions will respectively see growth of 12.1 percent and 11.6 percent in 2011, higher than the country's average. It says this is due to supporting policies contained in China's 12th Five Year plan (2011-2015) to further advance the development of China's west region and revitalize China's old industrial bases, including northeastern China.

China's PC shipments totaled 15.734 million in the fourth quarter of 2010, down 8.7 percent from the previous quarter but 4.2 percent higher than the same period of last year. (Edited by Sun Huanjie, [email protected])
