Party with the AgsApr 06, 2011 (The Eagle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Whether the Aggies win or run out of time, the public is invited to celebrate their Final Four run Wednesday. The women's basketball team will return from Indianapolis at 2 p.m. Wednesday to a welcome party in the parking lot of Reed Arena. Parking in Lot 100 will be free. --The "Boil of the Bands" event will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. on campus near Keathley Residence Hall. The event will feature live music and free pizza and crawfish for anyone who brings a can of food to donate to the Brazos Food Bank. --Two undergraduate students were recently honored with national awards in their areas of study. Junior Matthew Grunewald was selected as a 2011-2012 Goldwater Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. The award is the nation's premier undergraduate award in the fields of math, science and engineering. Grunewald is a genetics and biochemistry double-major. Junior Omar El-Halwagi was selected as a recipient of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. The scholarship awards up to $30,000 for graduate study to students pursuing careers in public service. Halwagi is a management and business major with a minor in communications and the co-founder and president of the Texas A&M Speech and Debate Team. --Four Aggies recently won first place in the all-female division of the Bulldog Challenge at the Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Savannah Frank, Jill Featherall, Mary Pike and Erin Penney completed the endurance course in 1 hour, 32 minutes. --The inaugural sport branding summit will bring four celebrities of the athletics world to Texas A&M on April 14. Participants who will discuss the importance of branding in the sports industry are Jeff Dubiel, the vice president of Sports Marketing/IMG at Pepsi Co; Jennifer Storms, senior vice president of sports marketing at Gatorade; LaDainian Tomlinson, NFL running back; and James Rootes, president of the Houston Texans. The event will start at 6 p.m. in the Wehner Building. Tickets, which can be obtained at the MSC Box Office, are free for students and $20 for non-students. --The work of Texas A&M computer science and engineering professor Robin Murphy will be featured at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History through April 16. Murphy invented Survivor Buddy, a rescue robot, with colleagues at Stanford University. The exhibit will be part of National Robotics Week. --Kayla Slimp is a student at Texas A&M.
