Procera Introduces Industry Leading 30-Gig PL8820 Appliance

(Market Wire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LOS GATOS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/11/11 -- Procera® Networks Inc. (NYSE Amex: PKT), the Intelligent Policy Enforcement (IPE) company, today announced the launch of the next generation PacketLogicâ„¢ PL8000 series. The PL8820 delivers a remarkable 30 Gbps capacity in a 2RU form factor, making it the fastest Intelligent Policy Enforcement appliance in the world.

"With the introduction of the PL8820 we doubled the capacity of our best selling IPE product, and continue to offer a faster solution than our competitors," said Jon Lindén, VP of Global Marketing at Procera. "However, more important than speed is the impact this has on cost-performance for our customers." Enforcing precision policies based on Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) has become more relevant than ever as broadband operators fight backhaul congestion while at the same time introducing new service tiers and ensuring profitability in a highly competitive market. It is becoming a real challenge to continue to add more users, devices and applications whilst continuing to maintain a quality service. As mobile operators are increasingly relying on data services as the primary revenue contributor, being able to support subscriber growth and the changing user behavior of an increasingly mobile social networking society is critical.

3 Scandinavia, part of the Hutchison Telecommunications group with more than 40 million subscribers, runs PacketLogic PL8820. "The performance of this appliance is impressive," said Jörgen Askeroth, CTO at 3 Scandinavia. "PacketLogic is business critical to us by ensuring a positive customer experience, and integration with billing. It is important to have a scalable solution like PL8820 to support our growth." Procera's product portfolio contains appliances and chassis that cover the capacity need from edge to core of mobile networks. All PacketLogic series run the same operating software and can co-exist in the same network. This means that they all, including the PL8820, come with PacketLogic's extensive feature-set and standards compliance for DPI-based policy enforcement (PCEF) -- including the recently announced IPv6 support that makes it fully compliant with carrier requirements.

"Most mobile operators run 2.5G, 3G, Turbo-3G and LTE networks in parallel," said Mr. Lindén. "We support all these networks with the same product in different form factors, which enables mobile operators to seamlessly extend their policy solution onto other networks." The PL8820 handles up to 2 million subscribers and 20 million flows per appliance. PacketLogic PL8820 is generally available this quarter and is already deployed in production networks.

Procera is exhibiting in Hall 2 (#2A86) at the Mobile World Congress 2011 where the PL8820 will be demonstrated.
